KPMG ITS Volunteers: Bringing Warmth and Support to the Community KitchenThe Volunteers of St. George

2025-02-13

Six months ago, a committed team from our organization embarked on a journey of service and community support. Their destination? A community kitchen near Aleksandrovska Hospital, operated by the Volunteers of St. George. What began as a suggestion from our colleague Maya Stoycheva has now become one of our most impactful volunteer initiatives, with over 100 hours dedicated to this cause.

The Volunteers of St. George is a charitable organization focused on supporting vulnerable individuals, including the sick, homeless, and elderly. Since September 2020, they have been distributing meals three times a week in a yard near Aleksandrovska Hospital, providing crucial support to those in need.

Our team has been an integral part of this effort, volunteering on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Starting at 18:30, we assist with food distribution and often stay to help with cleanup, dedicating about two hours per session. Some volunteers also contribute to meal preparation on Sundays, extending their shift to six hours.

In addition to volunteering, KPMG ITS has provided essential supplies such as a refrigerator, refrigerated display cases, clothing racks, and food donations. These contributions helped support a December celebration for St. Nikolay, ensuring a warm meal for over 100 elderly individuals.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our dedicated volunteers: Diana Hadzhieva, Marina Georgieva, Radoslav Dishev, Deyana Stefanova, Ivet Traykova, Maya Stoycheva, Veronika Mitkova, Tonya Plachkova, and the friends they brought along. Their commitment has been truly inspiring.

A special acknowledgment goes to our Co-Managing Director, CFO, and CSR Officer, Borislav Peev, whose leadership has been invaluable. From organizing donations to preparing meals and distributing food, Bobi’s hands-on approach has uplifted countless individuals, bringing warmth and dignity to those in need.

Every week, at least one volunteer from our team is present at the community kitchen. Initiative leader Aglaya Hristova is always available to guide new volunteers, ensuring a smooth and fulfilling experience. If you can spare two hours to make a difference, your support will be warmly welcomed. For more details on how to get involved, reach out to Aglaya – she will be happy to accompany you on this meaningful journey.
